Hi, friends! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Do you have plans already? Whether you’re single or in a relationship, you can always celebrate Valentine’s Day! When I was single, all of my single friends got together one year and celebrated, and another year all of my friends (relationship or not) celebrated together! So, you definitely don’t have to be in a relationship to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Mitch and I normally celebrate Valentine’s Day, but always in different ways! We’ve gone through the flowers and chocolate phase and the expensive dinner phase, too! This year, we really wanted to do something different and nontraditional. We haven’t decided exactly what we want to do yet, but it got me thinking about some nontraditional Valentine’s Day ideas.
There are so many ways you can celebrate Valentine’s Day! I rounded up 6 different nontraditional Valentine’s Day ideas plus some outfit inspiration for you!
1. Go to an arcade, bowling, or skating
I always love nights where we do things that make me feel like a kid again! Going to an arcade (or an arcade bar if you have one!), bowling alley, or skating rink is the perfect way to celebrate for a night! I love going bowling with my friends, so why not make it a group date! Not that we need to have an excuse to feel like a kid again, but it would definitely be memorable! For me, I would remember the skating rink by all the bruises I’m sure I would wake up with the next day!
2. Plan a spa day/night
If you love to be pampered, this one is for you! You could plan a spa day with your girlfriends for blow outs, manis, pedis, facials, massage, the list goes on and on! Or you could have a spa day/night with your significant other! This one is at the top of my list!
3. Have a staycation in your city
This is something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile, because I think it would be so fun! Book a hotel somewhere in your city, and just spend the day or night exploring! Since we are still new to our city, I know we would love this! And even though you are still close to home, it would feel like a vacation!
4. Make dinner together
This would be fun to do with your significant other or just with a bunch of girlfriends! Instead of going out for dinner, make dinner at home! If you’re celebrating with your girlfriends, you could have everyone bring something or you could all make it together! Or even better, you could take a cooking class together! Since I’m the one that normally cooks for Mitch and I, it would be fun to cook an entire meal together!
5. Have a group date at someone’s house
Looking for a great way to combine couples and singles? This would be perfect! Just invite everyone over for a celebration! You could have a potluck and spend the night playing board games and just enjoying each other’s company! My friends and I do this often, but it would be so fun to have a Valentine’s Day themed get together!
6. Celebrate on a different day
This one was Mitch’s idea! He recently brought up us celebrating Valentine’s Day on a different day. We all know how busy and crowded the restaurants are on Valentine’s Day. And so many things like flowers and gifts are overpriced because the demand is so high. He thought we could pick our own day to celebrate either before or after Valentine’s Day! This would make it more special for you since you would have your own day designated as Valentine’s Day!
What do you think of these nontraditional Valentine’s Day ideas? Some of them may seem more common than others, but if you are looking for something to do different than the norm I suggest trying one!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I sure do appreciate it!
