Wednesday Wishlist + Two Simple Tips for Saving Money

Happy Wednesday, y’all!  I hope you’re having a great week!  We are halfway until Friday!  I’m not sure if you know this about me, but I really like to shop.  Like, it’s my favorite hobby.  As far as I can remember, I’ve always loved shopping!  I think it’s safe to say I can thank my mom for this hobby of mine.  We always used to go shopping for birthdays, girls days, or just any old Saturday when we didn’t have anything to do.  I can remember waking up on a Saturday or Sunday and asking my mom if she wanted to go shopping.  It was always so much fun and a way that we loved to bond!  To this day, it’s still one of my favorite things to do with my mom.  She will always be my favorite shopping partner!

Well, shopping is all good and everything, until you decide you want to start saving more money.  I’m close, but I REALLY want to get the rest of my graduate loans paid off.  And I’ve started saving more money so Mitch and I can plan some fun trips in the near future!  I’ve actually gone the past 2 months without shopping at all.  Which is absolutely HUGE for me!  Some of you might think that sounds crazy, but shopping has been my normal for as long as I can remember.  I always seem to get that itch to buy something, or there’s an amazing sale that I just can’t pass up!  So, right now I’m feeling pretty accomplished about the past 2 months!

In case you have a shopping problem like me, you might be wondering how I did it.  Well, there’s actually two simple things I did that made a huge difference.

Tip #1: For starters, I just stopped looking at the constant sale emails that I get sent daily.  Instead of opening them up, I just delete them right away – while still making note of the sale so I can let my followers know!

Tip #2: I also stopped perusing the Nordstrom website and other shopping websites just for fun.  Normally, I would find myself making my way to retailer sites when I’m bored just to see what’s new.  Which then leads me to making spur of the moment purchases. I still do go to these sites every so often to see what’s available and what isn’t.  Especially since I’ve had to get more creative with my outfit posts the past few months!

The cool thing about all of this is…it makes me want to save more! It’s been so great to have some extra cash that I can put towards other things the past few months.  My bf always tells me that saving can be addicting, and I’ve gotten a little taste of that the past 2 months!  Let’s see if I can make it another whole month without shopping at all!

Since I’m not shopping, I’ll just have to settle with adding items to my wishlist in hopes that they might just appear suddenly in my closet! 🙂  Here are a few things that I’m crushing on right now!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Two more sleeps ’til Friday!

      Thanks so much, Jana!

  5. The best THING I ever did to save money was to split my earnings into categories with one category being FUN. The fun category can be used for ANYTHING I want, I can blow it all on one designer piece or make use of it and spread it out. This has really helped me budget and not feel guilty at all! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Thanks for the tips! I feel ya, Sales that are emailed to me get me temped and I love getting on Nordstrom to browse but then I end up spending money! Thanks again.
